Primary Hodgkin´s Diseases of the Jejunum and Upper Ileum

Abstract
|
|
|
We have encountered a case of Hodgkin´s disease of the small intestine in a 31 years old male with
the chief complaints of abdominal pain and distension after meals. An exploratory laparotomy disclosed
multicentric infiltrative and ulcerative annular tumors in short and long segments of the jejunum and
upper ileum with regiional enlarged lymphnodes in the mesentery. Palliative gastro-jejunostomy against
partial obstruction of the small intestine and biopsy of a portion of the involved intestinal wall and
one of the regional enlarged lymphnodes were the only possible surgical procedures for the patient.
The tumor mass was confirmed to be primary Hodkin´s disease of multicellularity type of small intestine
by pathological examination.
Hodkin´s disease is the least common type of malignant lymphnodes involving the gastrointestinal
tract which is given a figure of 7 to 25% for multicentricity.
